Sirtuins are a family of proteins linked to resveratrol. You may recall that resveratrol is found in grapes (especially grape skin), and hence in red wine. Resveratrol has been postulated to be associated with increased longevity.

Resveratrol may act by 'upregulating' or enhancing the production or sirutins. Sirutins are a group of enzymes found in many organisms. Sirtuins may play a role in cellular life span and in helping cells survive stressful conditions.

Sirtuins proteins have various names and numbers assigned to them.
Sir2 protein is found in yeast. SIRT1 has been found in human skin cells.

Research is focused on whether Sirtuins proteins applied to the skin help reduce the aging effects of ultraviolet light. One commercially available anti aging product for skin care is Avon's Anew Ultimate line of skin care products.
