Pal-KT and Pal-KTTKS Peptides in Anti-Aging Products.
Pal-KT and Pal-KTTKS are peptides, or proteins that are researched for their effects on stimulating or increasing collagen. Collagen is the protein backbone of the skin (and bones and cartilage), that gives support to the skin. Skin collagen is damaged by life's wear and tear, but especially by ultraviolet light and cigarette smoke.
A recent study in the British Journal of Dermatology, February 2010 compared the effectiveness of a cosmetic skin care anti aging cream in the Olay Pro X line, with a prescription tretinoin product. The Olay Pro X cream contained the Pal-KT peptides plus niacinamide and an over the counter retinoid called a retinyl ester.
This study reported comparable improvement in the approximately 98 women in each group (the Olay Pro-X group compared with the tretinoin group) in age induced fine lines and wrinkles. The women treated with the Olay Pro-X had less observed dryness in the short run.
